Murpozhudum Un Karpanaigal by Elred Kumar (Review)

Story: A very good story with ample of romance, action and drama. Love between a son and a mother well portrayed in this movie. A few predictable turning point yet interesting. Creative story with some simplicity.

Casting:  Atharva plays Ram the hero of the movie. He was able to express his love feelings naturally. yet there were some artificial reactions. His powerful eyes added some flavour to the action scenes. Amala Paul played the lead lady. Well she had a lot scope to play in this movie. Good performance but  it seems like she was trying hard to potray herself hot. Santhanam took care of the comedy. it was average except for one scene where he was having one funny conversation with the doctor. Jayaprakaash played the doctor role. he was the doctor with some humour. well played. Anupama Kumar  as Atharva's mother. she played the role of an iron lady. Superb performance and a lot of value she put on to display motherly love.

Screenplay: The 1st Half an hour seems to be a spoiler for the movie, yet it gets better in subsequent hours. the comedy scenes were average. The song clips were well visualized but the transition was poor. Some action scenes seems nonsense but overall it was ok. The scenes involving Atharva and Amala's romance were quite good. The flashback scenes were smooth and nice. The cinematography was awesome. poor editing though

Music: The music was composed by GV Prakaash Kumar. The songs were awesome, no doubt. the oru murai and kangal neeye song was well visualized.

Plus Point: Story, Music, the plotting, Romance, Jayaprakaash's acting.

Minus Point: Editing, song transition, action scenes.

Verdict: Can be watched at cinema once. It was a rich movie with a lot of turning points.

Kathalil Sothapuvathu Epidi? by Balaji (Review)

Story: An awesome storyline. Full of comedy, romance, drama and great moral value throughout the movie. Story about how different can women and men think and handle lovelife. Inspired by his own short movies. Hats off to the director. An excellent job by a newcomer.

Casting:  Siddarth plays the lead. The role fits him perfectly, a chocolate boy character who digs his own grave in love life. great performance by siddarth in every aspect. Then we have Amala Paul as his lady love. Cute and meaty performance. Others were newcomers, and some were the same people from the original short movie itself.

Screenplay: Well planned screenplay. couldn't see any flaws. every single scene were interconnected and had a smooth run. The comedy scenes will sure make you laugh your ass out. And romantic scenes were equally good. The songs were on flow, none of it runs out to foreign location with extreme choreography. The cinematography was awesome since it was nirav shah's work. The best of all the moral of the story was brought in an excellent manner. The humour were was spontaneous and direct.

Music: The music was composed by SS.Thaman. Sweet and simple. Azhaipaya song the best.

Plus Point: Story,Screenplay,Music,Comedy,Moral Values, casts,cinematography,romance.

Minus Point: None

Verdict: For the first time Ivak Says "5 Star"

Nanban by Shankar (Review)

Story: Exact duplicate of 3 idiots. No changes in story. Story with messages about aspiring what you want to achieve and choose a profession upon interest. Good message, Comedy, romance, drama and friendship element story.

Casting: Vijay played the role of Panchavan Parivendhan( Ranchodass chanchad). Ya of course it is a known fact that this would be his different approach and better than any other character he did commercially. But still he couldnt bring up the Ranchodass character as good as Aamir Khan. There were part where his dialogues were not so convincing to show Rancho wisdom or potray a humble Genius student. But the second half was his play, he did well from the scene Jeeva got admitted in Hospital till the end. Especially climax he manage to get it perfectly. And we have Jeeva playing Sevarkodi Senthil (Raju Rastogi). Jeeva was the Man of the match i would say. I can say he is another Raju Rastogi with better Humour. He really showed he is the best man for that role. Srikanth played Venkat(Farhan Queshi a.k.a Madhavan's character) who wants to be a wild life photographer. He was equally good. The lead lady Ileana played Ria (Pia in Hindi), Parivendhan's love interest. She is one sweet girl who has good gestures that can replace Kareena. She was like an angel. Maybe her lip sync was not that convincing but she did a good performance as well. Of course what is 3 Idiots without Virus played by Sathyaraj. That was one awesome performance by Sathyaraj as well. And not forgetting Silencer played by Sathyan. Sathyan brought the Silencer character very well except there were some part where he was quite artificial. Supporting role done by S.J.Suryah, Anuya (SMS fame) and many others.

Screenplay: There is nothing much to say about the screenplay since most of the sequence were from adaptation of 3 Idiots. Except there were additions in comedy dialogue which is really good. The cinematography was good. Maybe this is because this is the first time Shankar working with Manoj Paramahamsa.  It was different and lively with a different shades with less concentration on HD. Unlike usual Shankar trend, the songs were not in grand affair. They used the same ideas used in Sivaji and Anniyan. 98% of the scenes were same with 3 idiots including dialogues. Yet the screenplay was in slower pace than 3 idiots made it look lengthier. Good Intro with yen friend's pole yaaru macha.

Music: The music was composed by Harris Jayaraj. Superb song after so long. It really added value to the movie.

Plus Point: Story,Screenplay, Music,Comedy,Moral Values and casts.

Minus Point: Lengthy and no originality.

Verdict: Full entertainment package. Can be watched many times in cinema. Commercially made.

Don 2 by Farhan Akhtar (Review)

Story: The King is back. An awesome storyline filled with action, elegance, style and romance. This story has good twists that will make you sit till the end to know how it ends. Placed in a few different nation background. The sequel has a good continuity how Don manage spread his empire  in his 5 years after his escape after in the earlier movie and get involved into robbery for a purpose.

Casting: Shah Rukh Khan as Don, the best choice of man. A man who is capable to do anything. The arrogant man who fears nothing. No one else could have done the job better than Shah Rukh. He has the same approach as his earlier Don movie. The style and the way he projects his speech and the punch dialogues with an attitude. Simply remarkable. Priyanka Chopra as Roma the lead lady, the cop who is still in hunt of Don. She just never gives up. The bold lady made a few stunts. And we have Om  Puri as Inspector Malik just like Earlier movie. Booman Irani as Vardhaan, an important rival of Don who got caught at the end of last movie and allies with Don in this movie. Kunal Kapoor as Sameer the hacker to assist the robbery. Lara Duta as Ayesha, Don's trusted hot chick. She plays the role of loyal companionship for Don which played by Isha Gopikar in earlier movie. Hritik Roshan played a cameo role and there were a few supporting role such as Nawab Shah as Jabbar and Sahil Shoff as Arjun.

Screenplay: An awesome screenplay. The plotting were well planned and hardly can see a flaws. It was taken like a Hollywood movie. But it was lengthy yet the screenplay was rich. The twist in the movie worth appreciated. The song clips were not many, surprisingly for a Hindi movie. Filled with great stunts and action scenes. The stunts and action sequence were so realistic. The robbery plan was good and the way Shah Rukh Khan handles it looks professional. The Car chasing scene was awesome. The way Priyanka chopra handles the investigation was equally good. And of course the climax is the creme of the story of course.

Music: The music was composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. It was a contemporary music with a lot of James Bond soundtrack element. It was good in a sense where the BGM manage to boost up the scenes.

Plus Point: Action Sequence and stunts, the screenplay, editing, and BGM

Minus Point: There were a few illogical elements but not that obvious. and the movie was lengthy

Verdict: One awesome movie worth watching in cinema. You will feel like watching Mission Imposible and James Bond movies.

Rajapattai by Suseendharan (Review)

Story: A fully commercial entertainer. It is in lines with type of movie like Vikrams Dhool and Majaa. But the movie is not as good as the movies mentioned earlier. Action, Romance, Sentiments and Comedy is essence of the movie. But the story is lack of current stream elements. It was more to  old fashioned commercial movie.

Casting: Vikram is the lead man in the movie. He plays the role of Gym boy. The character suits him very well since he has a massive muscular body. He wants to be top villain in cinema industry. But still the performance in this movie will be a drop down for his fans since the versatile performer did something like Vijay alike scenes with rich punch dialogues and flying actions. Deksha seth is the pair for Vikram in this movie. As usual the heroine didn't have much scope in this movie. She was more like touch and go.  And Kasinadhu Viswanath played an important role in this movie which involves major part of the movie. The antagonist character was played by Sana as a bad politician and Pradeep Rawat plays Vapa an ally of Sana.

Screenplay: The screenplay was not well planned. the story was jumping from one scene to another at first half. And just like most tamil movies songs came for no reason most of the time. The comedy scenes were good yet it did not make the movie special in any sense. Even Thambi Ramaiyah character was a bit irritating. It has a good moral value overall. Yet it failed to fit in proper entertainment element.

Music: The music was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Podi paiyan song was superb. But other song were average only.

Plus Point: Moral message, comedy, and Vikrams Effort to bring up the character.

Minus Point: Editing, Screenplay and action sequence.

Verdict: Average movie. Better watch it at home.

Mayakkam Enna by Selvaraghavan

Story: A dedication for photography. A novellic and smooth story with good blend of romance, comedy, drama and inspiration. A life of a man who determined to be a wildlife photographer, the ups and downs he went through. Seems so obvious it is a quickie for Selvaraghavan but still it has a heavy and meaty storyline. Even a very good sense friendship was portrayed in this movie.

Casting: Dhanush is the lead man in the movie. This could be a very good benchmark for him after his national award winning Aadukalam. Of course no compromise in his performance, he brought up the character Karthick the photographer who is eager to learn and succeed very well. And his spontaneous gestures and acts towards the lead lady, awesome. Richa Gangopadhyay is a newcomer in Tamil cinema yet she is not new to cinema. She is seen in a few telegu movies. Maybe her lip sync might have some flaws and first half of the movie was not her play. But second half belongs to her. There are scenes she really performed one of the best where a newbie cant do. An attractive star as well.  And we have Sunder Ramu doing supporting role and an important role in the movie. A very good friend of the lead cast in the movie. Ravi Prakaash also played a vital role in this movie. He turn out to be the turning point of the movie. And finally there are a few supporting character played by Pooja Balu, Soni Barring and Mathivanan Rajendran.

Screenplay: A well planned screenplay. good editing. It was taken in usual Selvaraghavan style, in slow pace. Not so draggy and every scenes were taken as realistic as possible. Romance were really good especially on how both struggling to admit they like each other. Comedy was spontaneous. And there were  scenes which will go deep down the heart. All the song has its own significance, nothing were wasted. the transition was good. The commit suicide attempt scene might be unnecessary but it was misleading the story somehow. The photography throughout the movie was lively and good choice of location yet some were artificial. The scenes where Dhanush show his passion towards photography might gain peoples interest in photography as well. The movie has a positive message at the end of the movie.

Music: The music was composed by G.V.Prakaash. Song were superb one of the plus point of the movie

Plus Point: Storyline, Music, Screenplay, Richa and Dhanush acting.

Minus Point: Transition into second half & Lengthy

Verdict: Good novellic movie. To be watched with a lot of patience. A very good and inspiring movie. Worth watching in cinema.

7aam Arivu by A.R.Murugadoss

Story: A massive story with mixture of science and Tamil heritage element. They resurrected the Bodhidharman character and many other Tamil related heritage elements which relates to scientific explanation. It has a lot of revolutionary ideas and concepts relating to Tamilians all over the world. Good romance, small humour, massive action and drama, a full-fledged entertainer to every audience.

Casting: Suriya as the lead man(plays Bodhidharman and Arvind). No one would have done the character better than Suriya. He performed the martial art skills very professionally and of course the way he brought up bodhidharman character was superb. Subsequently, playing the role of Arvind the circus performer and also the descendant of bodhidharman was just a usual performance for first half but it gets better when action starts in him in second half. And of course this time Suriya came with his 8packs abs!! Shruthi hassan the lead lady plays a genetic engineering student in this movie.Awesome and mind-blowing performance for first movie. Her beauty and intellectualism will be a added value for the movie. And her enthusiasm in proving her point in Tamil ancient science worth appreciated. She will gain everyone's attention in this movie. The baddie in the movie is Johnny Tri Nguyen plays Dong Lee who played a real bad-ass  villain who kills anyone comes in his way. He was a perfect choice of villain since his martial art skills were vital in this movie. His hypnotism acts were higlight of the movie There are a few supporting roles such as Ashwin (SI Ganesh in Mankatha), Avinash and Abhinaya.

Screenplay: Awesome screenplay. The transitions for the plotting were really good,  pre-historic flashback shown first followed by current situation and then 93 days before incident and finally normally track. The scenes were made in very well planned manner. The action sequence of course the best in the movie since good martial art skills were used in the movie. The director deserves an appreciation since he can fit in good romance in between the movie since the movie were more into serious genre. A lot of good science and political elements were displayed well, as in genetic memory concept, bio-war and hypnotism. songs were well visualized, not so grand and well choreographed. A lot of scenes may boost up your enthusiasm since it was revolutionary towards injustice towards Tamilians and how are they suffering. Yet there is some editing weakness made the movie lengthy. The introduction scene is the best part of the movie, so dont miss it.

Music: The music was composed by Harris Jeyaraj. The songs were usual Harris beat since songs were similar to some of his previous songs. Yet Innum Yenna Thozha song has a deep meaning which relates to the story very much. Yelle Lama and Oh ringga ringga worth watching as well

Plus Point: Storyline, Suriya and Shruthi's acting, Stunt choreography, Dialogues and most technical aspects

Minus Point: Lengthy

Verdict: One of the best movie of the year. A revolutionary message to all Tamilians. Worth watching it at cinema.Enjoy!!
