Masss Engira Masilamani by Venkat Prabhu (Review)

*******Spoiler Alert*******

Story: A horror comedy story with elements of commercialism. A mixture of Ghost whisperer and Kanchana. Lack of originality and some cliched narration. Yet loved the way how it relates to humanity, family and revolution. Especially how ghost haunting and exorcism shown from a con-man perspective.

Cast: Suriya as Mass and Shakti. Very well played. One reason why you should watch this movie is Suriya. Excellent performance. Awesome dialogue deliverance especially as eelam tamilan. Expression priceless. Nayanthara as Manini, Hero's lady love. Touch and go character. But her presence was pleasant. Pranitha as second lead lady. Also minor role but strong one. Turning point of the movie. Premji as Jet Li. Well he is the same venkat prabhu product. This movie can be said a multistarrer too. Parthipan made a great cameo role. And Samuthirakanni as never seen before role named RK. And of course all the ghost characters which should not be revealed due to spoiler effect. Everyone had an important role in the movie.

Screenplay: The thing about Venkat Prabhu is he would not have strong story but definitely a great screenplay. The presence of ghost was shown in different dimension. The twists in his movies were great except one which is the main one was cliched. Loved the scenes on family value and humanity portrayed in the movie. Comedy as usual VP's cup of tea. He did awesome. The first half was rushing and couldnt see much of it but during second half, it gets better and more engaging. Well camera work was inconsistent but not that obvious. Of course you cant expect that much of a logic in horror comedy movies. Song sequence were great but first 3 songs were near to each other. Some action sequence was great and some were overdone. A great masala treat it is.

Music: Composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Superb music and BGM

Plus Point:
Screenplay, Cast, Suriya's acting, Comedy

Minus Point: Lack of originality in story, draggy at one point.

Verdict: An enjoyable masala movie.

Anjaan by Lingusamy (Review)

Story: A story on vengeance. Common within Kollywood movies. Had a good introduction and twists. But this is not something new for Tamil cinema. A mixture of action, romance and vendetta with the mix of common kollywood masala. Awesome portrayal of friendship but very typical lingusamy movie.

Cast: Suriya as Raju Bhai and Krishna. He plays an anti-hero. Cool make over, manage to catch many eyes for sure. His usual anger gesture is shown at many places. Great actor and worth appreciated. He did his stunts well. Vidyut Jamwal as Chandru, Raju Bhai best buddy. Only problem was his lip sync, felt like watching dubbing film. But other than that, he did very well with his action sequences. Samantha as Jeeva, Raju Bhai's lady love. Usual girl next door character. Nothing much and only appears most of the time in flashbacks. Manoj Bajpai played Imran Bhai, the main villain. He had that bad ass look but bad lip sync. Again I felt like watching a dubbing movie. Supporting characters played by Soori, Brahmanandam and many others

Screenplay: Not so good screenplay. Unnecessary and draggy flashbacks. The movie was dragged for 3 hours when it can end in 2 hours. The songs were a spoiler, comes at unnecessary scenes and lengthen the movie. And too many slow motion made it look boring. Good cinematography, had almost the same projection of colours as thuppaki since it had the touch of Santosh Sivan. But I felt there is a over use of slow motion in the movie. And the romance scene were not that good as well. Some of the fight scenes were superb especially Vidyut's stunts. But there were one or two exaggerated action. I sense too many cliche and were just another masala movie. But I liked the Suriya-Vidyut combo, it was kind of cool.

Music: The music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, songs were average, but the BGM was superb. In one word MASS!!

Plus Point: Story, Stunts, Suriya's acting, Cinematography

Minus Point: Screenplay, Songs, Draggy

Verdict: A good commercial story with bad screenplay. worth watching once in cinema

Biriyani by Venkatprabhu Review

Story:Venkatprabhu is back with his great masala work mixture of good comedy, romance, thriller, action, sentiments and fun. A full package. The movie is just another product of chaos theory. How one small thing can lead to bigger events. Well narrated, awesome turning point and epic climax. Just Like every venkatprabhu movie there is always surprise antagonist. Keep yourself tuned. If you are a venkatprabhu trend follower you will eventually make a right guess. A very enjoyable movie.

Cast: Karthi played the hero sugan. A more of a naughty boy character. I must admit, it was good makeover for him. He had the casanova look in this film. After constant flops i think this movie is a great comeback for him. He did his role very well be it as a playboy,a loving brother, a vigilant youngster and a friend with benefit of course. Quite impressed with his dance moves in the first song but other songs he was just jumping i guess. Hansika played priyanka, sugan's girlfriend. She had a significant role but she really has to improve on lipsync and emotions. I mean she did average work for a supportive and jealous girlfriend. Overall acceptable performance. As usual VP's favourite cast premji amaren played parasu, sugan's buddy or security for his problems. Pityful character, always gets tricked by sugan but with his usual comical role sure to make you laugh. But nothing new about his role, just the usual clown of venkatprabhu's movie. But in one scene he'll do mission impossible stunt. Please watch it and laugh. Nasser played Varadarajan, top ten rich guy with a lot of influence. Nasser is always an epic performer. Besides he was the turning point of the movie. Ramki made a comeback in this movie as Vijay Krishna, Varadarajan's son in law. He was a misleading character with a very important scope for the movie. Sampath played CBI officer Riyaz, he is really a versatile actor. He fits the role very well. He had that stylish look and body language. There is one epic role played by Uma Riaz Khan. Lady assasin which we hardly see in tamil cinema. It was one well played character and added value for the movie. There were a lot of supporting characters played by Jayaprakaash, Subbu Panchu, Madhumitha, mandy thakkar, sam anderson and many others.

Screenplay: One good thing about venkatprabhu is his screenplay. He'll never make you think that scenes are unnecessary in the movie. But it's just that this movie song transitions were in short gap for first half of the movie. But it was not that obvious. The way he starts up the movie brings it as narration for first half and then continue as current situation for second half quite impressive. Seriously you won't feel bored of the movie at all unless you are watching it for the third time onwards. The scenes were well organized. Even the action sequence was quite decent. Not overly done like alex pandian. The BGM made the movie to have adrenalin pump. Good thing about the movie eventhough it was an action comedy film, there were a lot scenes emphasizing on love, family and friendship value. And he made sure all the characters got purpose in the story. Everyone had a crucial role to play even the cameos. The best was the climax, he ended the movie and gave some space for sequel. He can come up with biriyaani 2.

Music: Composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Their combo always a success. And this time they did it again.

Plus Point: Screenplay, Cast, BGM, Story

Minus Point: Minor venkatprabhu stereotype

Verdict: Another awesome product of venkatprabhu. Definitely a good watch

Arrambam by Vishnuvardhan (Review)

********************Spoiler Alert*******************************************

Story:An usual story of gaining justice over past incident. Can be said modern adaptation of "Citizen" with a different theme. Lack of originalty in terms of story. But it has good elements of Action, Thriller and Drama. A small scope for romance but it was just nice for the movie. The movie was made meatier with some technological terms (Not so advance), bomb defusing, and strategy plans. But still it maintained it's traditionality like hero's flashback and so on.

Cast: Ajith Kumar@Thala played Ashok@AK. He is played a stylish character. Cant reveal much about his role but it was definitely usual less talk more action type of character. He did that several times before in a few movies, so you won't see a different thala in this movie. But still he will keep you attended throughout the movie. Nayanthara played Maya, the heroine. But it was not defined whether she was Ashok's lady love. She played a supportive character for Ashok and plays glamourous and badass when needed. Arya is the second lead in the movie. He played Arjun the professional hacker in this movie. He was an important backup for this movie. Eventhough the movie Thala-centered but he had ample of scope and role to perform in this movie. His comedy was a bit overdone at first but it gets better along the movie. Tapsee played Anita, Arjun's lady love. She played a a journalist with drama queen character nature. she was really good at it and was a good pair for Arjun. The movie antagonist was played by Atul Kurkani as corrupt police and Mahesh Manjrekar as Corrupt Minister. Rana Dagubati made a very significant cameo. It was totally worth watching him in action in Tamil Movie. And then there were a few supporting characters played by Krishna, Kishore, Akshara Gowda and many others.

Screenplay: Just like every other Vishnuvardhan movie, it was totally action packed movie. Eventhough the story was an usual one but the screenplay was different for tamil movies. There were a lot of shooting scenes and stunt acts which will grab your attention. Just like every other vishnuvardhan movie, this movie had green tint photography. The whole movie cinematography had green shade. The movie had good plotting where you wont feel like it is dragging too much. Every scene made important and every character has it's own role. None were superceded onto each other except a tiny role played by Malaysian Artist Haani Shivraj. she had two blur scenes. This movie is definitely not a swordfish movie remake as claimed by many. The scenes involving planning strategies and cop investigation were fast and reasonable. Did not have that much of illogical elements. There were flaws in the movie's flashback scene towards the end. How Nayanthara and Ajith survived was a bit lame. But it was just a tiny flaws. Traditionality still maintained in bomb defusing (Cutting coloured wires). Good BGM boost the feel of style in the movie. Dialogues were superb and worth accolades. The movie was intended to spread a valuable message about corruption. The En fuse poche song was cute and well visualized. Other songs were great as well. But Hare Rama Hare Krishna song was missing in the movie. Besides if the song was there, it would have made the movie draggy. The climax was kind of cool. A movie with true commercial value.

Music: Composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The songs were already a chartbuster. The BGM was superb

Plus Point: Screenplay, Cast, BGM, Dialogues, Action sequence, Song sequence.

Minus Point: Cliche in story and Cinematography.

Verdict: Stop making research on the logics and enjoy the movie for its action and commercial value. worth watching in cinema.

Moondru Per Moondru Kaathal by SM Vasanth (Review)

Story:A very good love story. A multi-narration in nature.Sweet dialogue write-up but failed to be on-screen. Mainly on romance, a little bit of social service and sports were included in the movie. But the movie has a bad conclusion. It could have been written better.

Cast: The movie has a few bad casting. First of all Vimal. Making him the key character is bad choice. He played a CA is an epic fail moment. He cant even speak english properly and his dialogue presentation was so poor. There were few romantic pick up lines that he spoiled. He seriously cant play classy role. Secondly, Lasini. She was exagerrated as if she's the most beautiful woman in the world but it was an Irony. And her acting was super poor. Other than that we have quite good cast. Cheran did his part quite well as a social activist. Bhanu was so good with the tamil accent and dialogue presentation. Their love story is the only good thing in the movie. And then we have Arjun as a swimming coach. He did good as well. but definitely not his best. Then we have Surveen Chawla as his lady love and swimming student. It was a good character played by her. But her lip sync was poor. Then we have Thambi ramaiah, Sathyan, John Vijay, Appukutty and many others playing supporting role.

Screenplay: Screenplay was seriously poor. Could have done way better. First of all Varun-Anjana (Vimal & Lasini) love story. Why they didn't show Anjana face for so long. Don't know what is their motive. There are certain unnecessary scenes that doesnt seem to have interconnection. Like Anjana's interview with varun's father, Meet up at cofee shop and the scene where Varun makes Anjana upset in lift. It happens the same for Gunasekar and Malikka(Cheran & Bhanu) love story. There is a scene involving a dog which i felt irrelevant in that movie.Quite a lot of transition that doesnt seem to be connected to each other. And making the movie musical is a bad choice. couple of songs were shown twice which dragged the time for nothing. And "stop the pattu" song was unnecessary. it was just to introduce the directors son Ritik Varun.Vimal playing a narrator was seriously a bad call. Overall for a romance movie it should have a good peek and fall so that people will get attached to the seat. SM Vasanth really disappointed me. I think only Gunasekar and Malikka love story worth watching in the movie followed by Paul Haris-Divya(Arjun & Surveen Chawla).

Music: Composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.Good soothing music.only boost in the movie.

Plus Point: Good story, Good music

Minus Point:Cast, screenplay, editing, and song visuals

Verdict: Failed romance. don't watch in cinema.

Kedi Billa Kiladi Rangga by Pandiraj (Review)

Story: A family entertainer with comedy background. Can be said a multistarer. The director delivered a good moral value. But the comedy was just average and nothing much about the storyline. A good friendship story and sweet romance. A little bit of politics masala. The plotting was unorganized. Just an average family entertainer.

Cast: Vimal and Sivakarthikeyan played the lead man as best friends. Vimal played Kedi Kesavan @ theni while Siva played  Pathai murugan. Both played comical role. Unemployed youths who wants venture into politics. For vimal, nothing new about his character. Just like Kalavani's role. But I feel he dominated movie compared to sivakarthikeyan. While siva and his dialogues with ample of humour to make all laugh. But maybe he don't have much scope to show his acting skill in the movie. we can expect more in ethir neechal. Bindhu Madhavi played vimal's lady love while regina cassandra played siva's lady love. Both of them had an awesoe characterisation. They'll be quite a lot of surprise in Bindhu's role. And regina is so adorable. Parotta Soori handled the major comedy part and he is the best at it. He never fails to make people laugh with his spontaneous lines.

Screenplay: First flaws i realized was the movie had a bad editting. there were few scenes in the movie, especially conversation part were it did not have proper continuation or links. Comedy scenes was good but it could have done even better. Nice song picturizing. Had a good climax with a meaningful message. But prior to that the movie just running out of control with no direction. The romance between Regina and Siva was well done. But vimal's scenes tried to dominate siva's part quite a lot eventhough was not that interesting.

Music: Composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, and it was super good. especially suda suda thural.

Plus Point: Comedy, Heroines, Moral Value

Minus Point: Story and editing

Verdict: Overall the movie was not the best of Pandiraj but not bad and suitable to be watched with family members.

Aadhi Bhagavan by Ameer (Review)

*****Spoiler Alert*******************

Story: A thriller based on underground world. It's just a fusion of a few movie story. Lack of originality. Meant to be action packed thriller and romance but it was an epic fail because of its repetitive nature. The twist was not predictable but it was an usual twist. The director tried to bring difference in terms of character yet not good enough.

Cast: Jayam Ravi was the protagonist of the movie. Played dual role, as aadhi the underground business market dealer and Bhagwaan the Mumbai Don. Poor acting I would say. As Aadhi he didn't show that much of intelligence or power in his character. Not convincing at all. And Bhagwaan, as a sissy Mumbai Don. Seriously he overacted as a sissy. Then we have Neethu Chandra the lead lady. She had masculine approach in this movie. She did well in her role. Not the best but quite good actually.  Especially the fight sequence between her and Jayam Ravi, was well choreographed since she helds a black belt in Taekwando. Some supporting roles such as Subha Chandran as Jayam Ravi's Mom and Babu Antony as Aadhi's crime partner.

Screenplay: Technical aspects were poor. The technology is way advance to take dual role. Yet still they used the traditional way of playing around with camera angle. The plotting was too slow to be draggy in first half. This Ameer's work is disappointing after good movies like Mounam Pesiyadhe, Raam and Paruthi Veeran. Seems like he rushed to finish up the movie. The BGM was good. But the romance was too traditional and son craving for mom's love was like Amitabh Bachan age sentiment. Seriously Jayam Ravi as a sissy was poor makeover. Where people have seen well played feminine character like Kamal in Vishwaropam, people wont get convinced with Jayam Ravi's act. Even the stunt sequence were too much of close up so you wont feel the adrenalin rush in it. But there were 2 scenes impressed me. One was Jayam Ravi headshot his sister's boyfriend and the fight scene between Neethu Chandra and Jayam Ravi. Never scene a lead lady with a very good body language in fighting in any Tamil movie. It's an advantage for her since she is a Taekwando expert. Other than nothing special.

Music: Composed by Yuvan. Songs were average but the BGM was quite good.

Plus Point: BGM, Neethu Chandra and Jayam Ravi fight scene.

Minus Point: Lack of originality in story, Poor Technical work, Screenplay, Stunt.

Verdict: Don't watch at cinema. It's was an epic fail Mafioso Love story.
