Vathikuchi by Kinslin (Review)

Story: A thriller with multi narration in place. A very good story with a well planned plot. Has a good multi narration which relates to a single person. Full of action, thriller and Momentum that will keep stick to your seat till the end. Even the romance in the movie was cute. It will sure gain your curiosity what's going to happen next. Just that it was taken in a very commercial manner.

Cast: The movie was produced by A R Murugadoss in association with Fox Star Studios. Directed by Kinslin, former assistant Director of Murugadoss. Dhileeban, brother of A R Murugadoss played the lead role. Maybe the look of the lead guy was not important for the movie, yet he could have performed better. He has a poor body language and an average acting skill. This is suppose to be an action movie and of course the hero suppose to have a very good gesture when it comes to fighting especially when it was told that the character learned fighting before confronting  the antagonist. But he was quite bad at that except during climax scene, there were some improvement. Could have placed  Jiiva or Vishal for that role. Anjali played the heroine role. she played a comical role and she was best at it. It's like usual Anjali who dares to confront anyone. Saranya played the hero's supportive mother. Of course she was good at that as well as usual. Sampath, Jayaprakaash, Jagan(Chitti Babu in Ayan), Vatsan and a few more played the antagonist role. Due to some circumstances hero was pulled into their lives and all of them were in rage to kill him.

Screenplay: This movie has a very strong Story, Screenplay and Editing. The story was very well narrated with all needed elements. it has it's good hike and drop to keep the momentum going. The screenplay was very good and the parallel incidents was well shown. You wont feel the movie dragged long. And the editing of multinarration was so organized. So the audience wont get confused throughout the movie. The last 15 minutes of the movie  will be the highlight. How the lead man plans his strategy to  stay alive. But the fight sequence was ridiculous. At one point the audience would forget the existence of gravity during fight sequence. If the stunt Choreography was good, the movie would be one of the most action packed movie in Tamil Cinema. It was an eye irritation. Song sequence were average, no costly foreign scenes. The song was attached with the flow of the movie. Just that the movie was made in a very commercial manner. Should have been a realistic movie. Quite good direction for a first timer.

Music: Composed by M Ghibran. The songs were superb. This is a good raise for M.Ghibran after Vaagai Sooda Va. Especially Kuru Kuru song. Awesome.

Plus Point: Story, Screenplay, Editing, Music

Minus Point: Fight scenes, hero's acting.

Verdict: If you are fan of K.V Anand or A R Murugadoss, you may watch it at cinema. It's a commercial thriller for common audience.

Paradesi by Bala (Review)

Story:The film is based on real life incidents that took place before independence in the 1930s. The film has been adapted from Eriyum Panikadu a Tamil translation of the 1969 novel Red Tea by Paul Harris Daniel which deals with Harris's encounters with enslaved tea plantation workers in the Madras Presidency in colonial India. Another stereotypical Bala movie with primitive characters and slow paced story with an open ended climax. Full of native speech, simplicity, savage, small community of pre-independence and thriller. Exactly the same genre with his earlier movies.

Cast: Atharva dons the role of native newspreader for his village named Rasa. Major makeover from his earlier movies. Of course Bala at his best of making handsome actors as ugly as possible. Quite a lot of scope for Atharva to show is acting skills. A job well done. His speech and body language was well polished. But it's just that we cant see much difference in terms of characterization with other lead characters in Bala's earlier movies. Nothing special or innovative. Then there is Vedhika as Atharva's lady love named Angamma. A cute character with a bubbly role. Of course this is something new for audience seeing her as Angamma since all we have seen her was as Kutty Pisaase. Danshika as maragadham, hutmate and working colleague of Atharva at tea estate. She was shown as an iron lady and a mother of a child in this movie. Her character doesn't differ much with her role in Aravaan. But still she did a very good job throughout the movie. Then we have some supporting character done by Pasupathi, Rithwika, Uday Karthik and many others. Uma Riaz Khan was said to play Atharva's mother but there was not even her shadow in that movie.

Screenplay: True bala fan would say this is a remarkable movie. but as a normal audience we will feel why is he not coming out of the shell. The same shade of story, screenplay, music taste and even cinematography. At one point I was confused whether the music done by G.V.Prakaash or Illaiyaraja. I'm sure this is the director's demand. It can be said a mixture of Pithamagan and Naan Kadavul. Ugly village people who wanted a purpose of life. It ends just like that and audience wont realize it ended. As if there is no conclusion. If there is no conclusion then why pull that story 2 hours? could have end it in 30 Minutes. Only plus point I noticed was realism. The director tried to show beat up scene, village events and the people as realistic as possible. but this not first time he had done that. All his movie has the same theme, of course it would look realistic.

Music: Composed by G.V.Prakaash Kumar. Only on song worth listening. others were just a reflection Director Bala.

Plus Point: Realism and Originality in story

Minus Point: Bala's stereotype(screenplay, music, cinematography,characters)

Verdict: Different story told in the same way. If you have patience to watch Pithamagan,Naan Kadavul, Nantha and Sethu again, then go watch it at cinema. Or else just wait for the DVD rip.

Haridass by GNR Kumaravelan (Review)

Story: A novelic movie based on a beautiful relationship between a Father and an Autistic son. Full of drama, inspiration, sacrifice, love, action and family sentiments. a very well planned story with good boost of moral value. Interesting turning points and climax. Would sure bring you on a valuable ride.

Cast: Kishore played Shivadass, the father and a hardcore policeman. He is an encounter specialist. He really has a good body language to play a police character. He will definitely impress people as an inspiring father. This will be a great life for Kishore since he is always been secondary characters in movies. Master Prithviraj Das played Hari the autistic son. Quite impressive performance actually. He had no scope for speech but her showed everything in his performance. I won't say the best performance for autistic patient but good for a newcomer child artist. Sneha played Amudhavalli Teacher. She was the lead lady in the movie. This is not first time she is donning this type of role. But still a significant character. Paratta Soori handled the comedy part and he was really good at it. Pradeep Rawat as the villain and one who being hunted by Kishore in the movie. And a few supporting characters by Yugi Sethu, Raj Kapoor and others.

Screenplay: The beauty of the screenplay was not much grandeur elements. everything was simple and sweet. The first impressive thing about the movie is the modus operandi of a policeman to encounter a criminal. Looks logical and gave badass look to Kishore. He really have that police man look. Second is autism. How they explain autism is not a retardness or disability. Giving example of people with autism succeeded in real life was meaningful. And how Kishore discovers his son's added value. The movie doesn't have much exaggeration. You won't feel bored. Good technical aspects. Good pace of plot. not too lengthy. Only flaws I saw was BGM and gap during investigation of his missing friend. other than that it was smooth low budget movie. Only 2 action scenes but it was not exaggerated.

Music: Composed by Vijay Antony, poor music, visual and BGM

Plus Point: Story, Cast, Screenplay and Pace, Action, Moral Value not forgotten

Minus Point: BGM, Music, Few very small glitches in transitions.

Verdict: Watch it at cinema. Only showing at Odeon in KL or Brem Mall. Great real-life movie.

Aadhi Bhagavan by Ameer (Review)

*****Spoiler Alert*******************

Story: A thriller based on underground world. It's just a fusion of a few movie story. Lack of originality. Meant to be action packed thriller and romance but it was an epic fail because of its repetitive nature. The twist was not predictable but it was an usual twist. The director tried to bring difference in terms of character yet not good enough.

Cast: Jayam Ravi was the protagonist of the movie. Played dual role, as aadhi the underground business market dealer and Bhagwaan the Mumbai Don. Poor acting I would say. As Aadhi he didn't show that much of intelligence or power in his character. Not convincing at all. And Bhagwaan, as a sissy Mumbai Don. Seriously he overacted as a sissy. Then we have Neethu Chandra the lead lady. She had masculine approach in this movie. She did well in her role. Not the best but quite good actually.  Especially the fight sequence between her and Jayam Ravi, was well choreographed since she helds a black belt in Taekwando. Some supporting roles such as Subha Chandran as Jayam Ravi's Mom and Babu Antony as Aadhi's crime partner.

Screenplay: Technical aspects were poor. The technology is way advance to take dual role. Yet still they used the traditional way of playing around with camera angle. The plotting was too slow to be draggy in first half. This Ameer's work is disappointing after good movies like Mounam Pesiyadhe, Raam and Paruthi Veeran. Seems like he rushed to finish up the movie. The BGM was good. But the romance was too traditional and son craving for mom's love was like Amitabh Bachan age sentiment. Seriously Jayam Ravi as a sissy was poor makeover. Where people have seen well played feminine character like Kamal in Vishwaropam, people wont get convinced with Jayam Ravi's act. Even the stunt sequence were too much of close up so you wont feel the adrenalin rush in it. But there were 2 scenes impressed me. One was Jayam Ravi headshot his sister's boyfriend and the fight scene between Neethu Chandra and Jayam Ravi. Never scene a lead lady with a very good body language in fighting in any Tamil movie. It's an advantage for her since she is a Taekwando expert. Other than nothing special.

Music: Composed by Yuvan. Songs were average but the BGM was quite good.

Plus Point: BGM, Neethu Chandra and Jayam Ravi fight scene.

Minus Point: Lack of originality in story, Poor Technical work, Screenplay, Stunt.

Verdict: Don't watch at cinema. It's was an epic fail Mafioso Love story.
