Irumbu Kuthirai by Yuvaraj Bose (Review)

Story: A racy suspense thriller. The story was superbike oriented which explained in title itself. A very good plot with ample of action, romance and sentiment. But lack of importance on dialogues and illustration. Lack of originality, manage to find a few Hollywood movie narration in it.

Cast: Atharva Murali as Prithviraj. He plays a youth trying to go through his dark past. His performance was similar to MUK. But he improved on romantic part. Priya Anand as Samyuktha, sweet and charming as usual. I felt she did her excellently. The accent and her dressing shows she is apt to the role.  Johny Tri-Nguyen played villain Don Stony. Same bad ass features and kicking ass stunts as 7am arivu. A few supporting character played by Lakhsmi Rai, Jagan, Thevadarshini and others.

Screenplay: The movie had a boring screenplay. It is suppose to be an action packed movie but most scenes the director used slow-motion especially staring scenes which was very draggy. And the dialogues was just average. Only good thing was the romantic scene in the movie. Well visualized. But the there were scenes where the director rushed which was kind of a spoiler. And the stunts were also not as expected. Lack of adrenalin rush. And finally the movie made mistake which every kollywood movie makes, poor song transitions. Song visuals comes unnecesarrily and not parallel. Even the camera work was average

Music: Composed by GV Prakaash. The BGM was good. But the songs were not that attractive. Only good song was Ange ippo enna seigirai.

Plus Point: Story, Location, Romantic scenes.

Minus Point: Screenplay, Stunts, Songs

Verdict: Not worth watching in cinema. Just an average twisted story with a reasonable cliché.

Anjaan by Lingusamy (Review)

Story: A story on vengeance. Common within Kollywood movies. Had a good introduction and twists. But this is not something new for Tamil cinema. A mixture of action, romance and vendetta with the mix of common kollywood masala. Awesome portrayal of friendship but very typical lingusamy movie.

Cast: Suriya as Raju Bhai and Krishna. He plays an anti-hero. Cool make over, manage to catch many eyes for sure. His usual anger gesture is shown at many places. Great actor and worth appreciated. He did his stunts well. Vidyut Jamwal as Chandru, Raju Bhai best buddy. Only problem was his lip sync, felt like watching dubbing film. But other than that, he did very well with his action sequences. Samantha as Jeeva, Raju Bhai's lady love. Usual girl next door character. Nothing much and only appears most of the time in flashbacks. Manoj Bajpai played Imran Bhai, the main villain. He had that bad ass look but bad lip sync. Again I felt like watching a dubbing movie. Supporting characters played by Soori, Brahmanandam and many others

Screenplay: Not so good screenplay. Unnecessary and draggy flashbacks. The movie was dragged for 3 hours when it can end in 2 hours. The songs were a spoiler, comes at unnecessary scenes and lengthen the movie. And too many slow motion made it look boring. Good cinematography, had almost the same projection of colours as thuppaki since it had the touch of Santosh Sivan. But I felt there is a over use of slow motion in the movie. And the romance scene were not that good as well. Some of the fight scenes were superb especially Vidyut's stunts. But there were one or two exaggerated action. I sense too many cliche and were just another masala movie. But I liked the Suriya-Vidyut combo, it was kind of cool.

Music: The music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, songs were average, but the BGM was superb. In one word MASS!!

Plus Point: Story, Stunts, Suriya's acting, Cinematography

Minus Point: Screenplay, Songs, Draggy

Verdict: A good commercial story with bad screenplay. worth watching once in cinema

Jigarthanda by Karthik Subbaraj (Review)

Story: A neo-noir film with an interesting plot. A very well planned script. It was a multi-dimensional narration centered in two characters indirectly connected in first half towards getting directly connected in second half. Unexpected multiple twists and the movie had an awesome fluctuation of pace. Good drama, comedy, action and thriller. A lot of resemblance of common real life incidents. The turning point of the story was epic. And as usual Karthik Subbaraj is a good player when it comes to climax. So stay tuned.

Cast: Siddharth as Karthik. An ambitious director. Good choice of cast. His expressions and gestures to explore were simply superb. Can't say much or it'll be a spoiler in the movie. Lakshmi Menon as Kayal. She is the lead lady in the movie. Regardless of having very limited presence in the movie, she became main contributor for the turning point. Simha of Soodhu Kavvum fame as Assault Sethu. He is the man of the match of the movie. Excellent performance. A very meaty role which becomes the key to the story. One of the best a rural don character I've ever seen. Karunagaran of Soodhu Kavvum fame as Oorni. A comical character who handles major part of the humour in the movie. And many other supporting characters played by Nassar, Ramachandran Durairaj, Guru Somasundram and many more.

Screenplay: First thing to notice in the film is the cinematography. Excellent. The definition and angles were very good. Slow motions were used at the right place. All the sequences were captured in a very realistic manner. No exaggerations. The intro was amazing, they initiated with a follow camera and starts with a cut and short dialogues with shocking opening. And the second pace was slightly slow pace since it was more on explanation of the subject. Good thing about the movie, the director had a lot of surprises. Just when you start predicting the movie, he will prove you wrong. Simple and superb dialogues. I enjoyed every single scenes involving Simha. regardless of being serious subject, the movie had an awesome comedy and sentimental scenes. And the continuity of the scenes and its transitions were smooth. Editing well done. But the movie was lengthy. yet still worth it. And the good thing about the movie, a little bit of movie making and acting inputs were disclosed. Overall all the scenes in the movie simple and impactful.

Music: The music composed by Santosh Narayanan. The BGM is one of the highlight in the movie. But the songs were a bit different from usual

Plus Point: Story, Screenplay, Cinematography, Cast and BGM

Minus Point: Lengthy

Verdict: A major treat for movie lovers.

Nallathor Veenai Seidhen by S.Haridhass (Review)

Story: A sentimental story with high impact message. A simple story with an outstanding wrap up. A reality about Karma well visualized in this movie. Good plotting and nice turning point. Sweet, simple and meaningful movie.

Cast: The main characters were not named in this movie. Lingkeswaran Maniam played main character as a father of a child who learnt the actual meaning of life. Good portrayal of emotion and self realization. Good benchmark between before and after key incident. Velarasan Morrthy as a Blind Man. Good facial expression, nice imitation of a blind man. But I've seen blind man swinging the stick harder when walking on straight road while he was just touching down lightly. Yet he did very well in his role. Kuben Mahadevan as a snatch thief. A very significant character. The key of the whole movie. His presence was short but very strong. Very convincing acting. I have always admired his acting. And there were few supporting character played by Sham Karthik, Thisha Visvanathan, Danya Sajita Varma, Manimala Krishnan and Deviga.

Screenplay: Good transitions throughout the movie. With limited resources they came up with a very good product. No excessive graphics or overdone sequences. Good intro scene with some humour. I loved the way they shoot the accident scene. Simple and meaningful. And the best is climax. The helmet spinning and the blood spill were superb. Awesome climax. The cinematography was good. Nice shades and angle. Especially motions during the accident scene. But it was slightly draggy from the time the blind man walks till the home scene and post accident scene. Something we can compromise since it is an emotional scene.

Music: The music composed by Jey Raggaveindra. Two songs which boost the perfect emotion for the movie. Nice violin instrumental too.

Plus Point: Story, Cast, Cinematography and acting

Minus Point: Slightly draggy

Verdict: Nice plot with very valuable message

Thirumanam Ennum Nikkah by Aneesh (Review)

Story: A romantic comedy based on unconditional love. Most part of the movie was placed in Islamic background and values. Islamic values were portrayed in a very beautiful way.  Nice and decent first half. But the movie's story was a bit out of direction in second half. The rational behind the conclusion is still ambiguous. There is a unnecessary conflict in the movie which will drag the climax. Climax could have been done better . It was a creative story but bad plotting.

Cast: Jai as Vijayraghavan Chaari/ Abu Bakkar. Nothing much to say of his role. Just the same boy next door look with his normal gestures and humour. His dialogue deliverance was good but nothing much to say about his acting. Nazriya Nazim as Priya/Aisya. She plays lady love of Jai in the movie. She was cute and bubbly. But it will remind you of same Nazriya from Raja Rani. Nothing more or less. Heebah Patel was another lead lady which played Nazima. Others were supporting character played by many not so well known casts.

Screenplay: The movie had major editing problem which made the movie out of track in second half. I think the director had some other ending in mind but changed it in last minute. Too bad, it was not that aligned with the first half. The romantic scenes were sweet and nice. But I don't get what was the issue behind the conflict faced by the main character in the movie. Why it was made to be seen intense? The first song sequence, the rain was uneven and quite obvious. I think it's mainly due to cinematography. The angles were not right and the camera quality was average. But I was kind of impressed with the art direction for Kanukkul Pothi Vaippen song. The colour combination of the Golu background and costumes matched well. Songs were a spoiler in many circumstances. The song sequence was a bit old school. But I loved the way the director portrayed the scene where Jai learns about Islam. But at the end of the movie I felt that the title of the movie doesn't match the movie.

Music: The music composed by M.Ghibran. The songs were good but the sequence were average

Plus Point: First Half, Romance and Comedy

Minus Point: Second Half, Story and Editing

Verdict: An average movie which could have been done better with more rational in second half.

Velaiyilla Pattathaari by Velraj (Review)

Story:An inspirational story of an unemployed youth and his achievements. Good mixture of drama, comedy, romance and action. It has a good plot and an excellent turning point which transforms the protagonist's life. A lot of good moral values instilled and some emotional scenes will definitely give goosebumps and brings tear to your eyes. A dedication to Engineering graduates of course.

Cast: Dhanush as Raghuvaran, an unemployed Civil Engineering graduate. Incredible acting skill. He was simply superb. He can shift from one emotion to another just like that. But I don't agree with his climax fight scene which had unnecessary element. Amala Paul as Shalini, Raghuvaran's lady love. Just a girl next door character too boost romance with hero. Nothing much to say. was supportive here and there. Samuthirakani as Raghu's dad. Superb performance. He fits the character very well, a persistent father as well as supportive. I can sense a lot paternal elements in his acting. well done. Saranya Ponvanan as Raghu's mother. She is the best mother in silver screen. Unbeatable. Awesome acting and mother sentiment is one of the highlight of the movie. There were a few supporting character played by Surabhi, Vivek and others.

Screenplay: The director has R.S. Durai Senthilkumar touch in his screenplay. I guess he included a lot reality of an unemployed youngsters routine. The fight scenes were quite realistic. I loved all the scenes involving Saranya Ponavanan and Dhanush. Awesome mother sentiment. Great dialogues. Comedy scenes were mostly involving  Dhanush and Vivek only shows up in second half. Good humour. The beauty of the movie is a lot of valuable messages were included about Family value and Career progress. Good inspirational scenes. But the climax was kind of lame. It was more like to show Dhanush Mass effect for the movie. Song clips were kind of stereotyped. But the choreography was good. But just like most Tamil movies it had too many songs cramped in short time. The best choreography was "what a karavad". Cinematography was average which was an irony since the director is a cinematographer.

Music: The music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, regardless of being chartbuster the BGM was kind of cliche'. I think he should try experimenting more. But soothing though. Amma Amma song will bring tears for sure.

Plus Point: Story, Screenplay, Music, Dialogue and Acting

Minus Point: Climax and BGM cliche.

Verdict: A wholesome entertainer to be watched in cinema.

Kochadaiyaan by Soundarya Rajinikanth (Review)

Story:Fictional epic fantasy. Revolves around 2 ancient kingdom but centralized in one character. Full of vengeance, drama, inspiration and political message. Just a usual Indian warrior story with some mass effect of course due to Rajinikanth. Good plotting and climax.

Cast: (Since it is a motion capture characters I cant say much about their acting) Superstar Rajinikanth as Rana, Sena and Kochadaiyaan. His voice and gestures will be treat for his fans. I really loved the Kochadaiyaan character. Seems very principled. Deepika Padukone as Rana's lover Vadhana. And then we have all the supporting characters played by Aadhi, Jackie Shroff, Nassar, Shobana, Sarath Kumar and many others.

Screenplay: The movie will have all the entertainment that needed for a commercial movie. Since it is fictional fantasy and more of an animation (eventhough they deny it is an animation) therefore cant expect much of logic in the movie. Good thing about the movie it had good dialogues. Certain dialogues will give you goosebumps. The fighting scenes were quite good especially the climax war scene. It seems like finally our Superstar gets into real action. Songs were good but the transitions were quite poor. Songs will be cramped in short time. One of the disappointment for me is this is not the best intro for our superstar. He had better opening in his earlier movies. And last but not least the graphics. regardless of being new attempt which should be appreciated, the face details were quite poor. The eyes especially, certain scenes seems like the character having squint eye. Even though it is a motion capture work, It is seems like usual ramayana and mahabaratha 3D animation. But overall it will be quite entertaining to watch, just like watching pixar and dreamworks movies. Good effort anyway.

Music: The music composed by A.R.Rahman, no compromise an added advantage. The BGM will definitely give you goosebumps.

Plus Point: Story, Screenplay, Music and Fight Sequence and Dialogue

Minus Point: Graphics and song transitions

Verdict: A family entertainer to be watched by all.

Vaayai Moodi Pesavum By Balaji Mohan (Review)

Story:Fictional and imaginary story. A very creative way to convey message to people. The beauty of the movie is every character in the movie has strong role to keep the movie going. Very good romance, family value, friendship and humanity instilled. First class comedy and a very feel good story.

Cast: Dulquer Salman as Aravind. Son of Mamootty made his debut in Kollywood through this movie. Good looking and talented. Has a lot of potential. He did very well with his chocolate boy role. A very optimistic character well played. Nazriya Nazim as Anjana. She was cute and amazing in this movie. A very meaty performance I would say. She builds up the character very well. Madhubala as Vidya. She made a comeback after so long and totally worth it. Because she played an excellent housewife character. A lot of supporting character with meaty role played by Pandiarajan, Vinu Chakravarthy, John Vijay, Robo Shankar, Ramesh Thilak and many others.

Screenplay: An awesome screenplay, something different for a commercial Tamil movie. In midst of times where punch dialogues are well utilized in movies, Balaji Mohan made 40% of the movie into a silent film. Good thing about it is, this digs good acting performance from each one of them since they had to portray everything without dialogues. And his comedy sense is so good. Eventhough it was not as intense as Kathalil Sothapuvathu Epidi, but it will definitely make you burst out of laughter. And a lot of good messages instilled in the movie and very well written dialogues. Creating a imaginary disease and life around it was simply superb. But it was slightly draggy at a point but not that obvious. I love the cinematography and location choice.

Music: The music composed by Sean Roldan. Average music

Plus Point: Story, Screenplay and Acting.

Minus Point: Slight buffer in scenes.

Verdict: A flu which will keep you healthy. Worth watching in cinema with your family.

Enammo Edho by Ravi Thyagarajan

Story:Remake of  Ala Modalaindi, a romantic-comedy movie. Same story not much of originality. so many twist due to so many marriages. Just some normal family entertainment movie.

Cast: Gautham Karthik as Gautham. After Kadal's performance he came up with such a drawback. He over-acted to the max in this movie. It's quite shocking to see an actor who did exceptionally good in his debut but performed like a newcomer in second movie. Certain scenes he did well especially emotional parts. But his comedy acts and normal speech deliverance had some flaws. Rakul Preet Singh as Nithya. She did couple of Tamil film before. Regardless of being Non-Tamil girl her lip sync was decent. She didn't blabber like shriya or the meenakshi dixit. She did exactly what nithya menen did in the original version, but a little less bubbly of course. Prabhu as Chakravarthy, an important supporting character. He had a lot of scope in second half and he rocked it. He will definitely make you laugh with his act. Anupama Kumar as Lakshmi, Gautham's mother. An awesome actor I would say. Eventhough her best mother role was in Mupozhudhum un karpanaigal, this one will be a good one too. Supporting character done by Nikesha Patel and many others.

Screenplay: The movie was not as good as it's original version. First of all the song transitions, it was poor. Songs keep on appearing in first half an hour. And the dialogue was kind of lame at most part. It meant to be funny but end up as epic fail jokes. But the second half of the movie is watchable. I think mostly because of a lot more emotions in second half and more scope for Prabhu. And the twists in the movie all caused by marriage, which a bit annoying. The song visuals were average

Music: The music composed by D.Imman, was awesome. The puthiya ulagai song is the best.

Plus Point: Second half and Prabhu's comedy, Anupama Kumar's Role.

Minus Point: Main leads acting, song transition and lame comedy.

Verdict: Not so good remake after all.

Tenali Raman by Yuvaraj Dhayalan (Review)

Story:A revolutionary story with fictional history of Tenali Raman and his smart moves. Fairly good story with a lot of good messages. But it was slightly a cliche of 23am Pulikesi. In terms of Tenali Raman's brain games it was well scripted but subsequent to turning point it was a bit not in order. The director tried to related the movie with current political situation in India. Good comedy, fair adaptation of indian epic tale and revolution as a core subject.

Cast: Vaigaipuyal Vadivelu played the lead as Tenali Raman and the King. A not bad comeback for vadivelu. He did a very good job on Tenali Raman character. Calm and Intelligent well portrayed. Maybe the king was too similar to Pulikesi character. He did his comedy quite well. good to see him back on screen. Good thing about vadivelu in this movie he managed to distinguished between the 2 characters well by different voice modulation and speech. Meenakshi Dixit played Madhulai, Tenali Raman's lady love and the king's daughter. She was hot and sexy but she was bad in acting. Her lip sync was very poor. Maybe she was just there to add some glamour. Radha Ravi as main baddie. He wont appear much in the movie but he will some how take the lead among other baddies. A lot of supporting character played by Manobala, GM Kumar, Bala Singh, Shanmugarajan,Bose Venkat and many more.

Screenplay: The movie had a good start and first half, but it get's a bit irrelevant in between. The way the director portrayed Tenali Raman's intelligent were just aligned with epic tale. You will feel like reading ambuli mama stories. Unnecessary romance and climax. It didn't wrap up well. Yet the movie has good dialogues which is an added value. It has a few cliche scenes with Pulikesi. But most of his comedy in the movie will definitely make you laugh. The movie even became draggy at a point.

Music: The music composed by D.Imman, the songs were terrible and had a bad idea of adapting olden days style songs.

Plus Point: Cast, Comedy, Moral Value and Dialogues

Minus Point: Cliche, bad climax, draggy, average CG

Verdict: An average comeback for Vadivelu, nothing much to hype. If you liked Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi then you might love this movie.

Naan Sigapu Manithan by Thiru (Review)

Story:A very well planned plot. Good story based on Narcolepsy, a sleeping disorder. The story was well blended with good romance, drama, action and thriller. Turning point was remarkable for a commercial movie. The narration involves mix of present and flashbacks. First half will be a warm and feel good part and second half gets rough with thriller and action. The way director comes up with solutions to cope up with narcolepsy was kind of creative eventhough not proven medically. It is good blend of science and masala together.

Cast: Vishal as Indiran, a man with Narcolepsy who struggles to live normal daily life. Vishal is a one of the very few actors who can bring life to the character. He really did a great job in this movie. His body language and gestures were just perfect for this role. And when he turns badass, he becomes badass for good. Yes there were a few resemblance with his character in Pandianaadu but not that significant. Laksmi Menon as Meera, Indiran's lady love. She is just an average looking girl but she can really bring up the character well. Moreover her chemistry with Vishal was great. Her supportive nature and judgmental insight in the movie worth watching. Jagan handled the comedy as Satish. No doubt that he is as good as Soori and Santhanam when comes to spontaneous humour. Sunder Ramu as Karuna. He is earlier well known for his character in Mayakkam Enna and Moonu. But this movie is his best performance till now. Other supporting characters played by Saranya Ponvanan, Jayaprakaash, Iniya and many others.

Screenplay: Well the plot doesn't have any significant flaws. Not much buffer between one peak to another. The song transition was good. But yet the movie was quite long. The sequences were organized and can be understood easily. The romance scenes were beautifully canned. The cinematography was good, the colour shades were awesome. The climax was a bit of a spoiler since it seems like the Narcolepsy disappears just like that for a moment. Regardless of having some illogical elements, the director was creative in showing how Vishal copes up with his disorder. The climax fight scene was nice. And the movie instills a lot of moral values to be followed. But the movie got draggy due to second flashback scene. The dialogues were superb.

Music: The music composed by G.V. Prakaash and it was good and soothing. Well visualized as well.

Plus Point: Story, Cast and Screen Play.

Minus Point: Lengthy, some illogical scenes.

Verdict: A good movie to be watched with some mature acceptance.

Maan Karate by Thirukumaran (Review)

***********Spoiler Alert****************************

Story:A story with half utopia and half masala. How fantasy was related to sports event, all well narrated in this movie. A.R.Murugadoss has creative mind when it comes to story. Filled with Comedy, Romance, Drama, Fantasy and Adrenaline Rush. The movie had a solid script with good dialogues as well. But the director could not deliver what exactly in the story.

Cast: Sivakarthikeyan as Royapuram or Maan Karate Peter. He improved a lot as an actor. Good sense of humour and he really improved in dance. But I personally feel he could have worked harder to prepare himself as an instant boxer and make some homework on it. He was unbeatable when it comes to comedy but the boxing setting was not compatible with him. Hansika as Yaazhini, Peter's love. She was just another girl next door and didn't do much anyway but bringing the song . I don't know when tamil cinema going to skip doing that, putting song in every heroine scene. There was 5 core character in this movie which was driving the story. One among the 5 was Satish as Sandy. He is a better comedian compared to many. Vamsi Krishna played Peter the killer. He really has that badass look. He did his  role very well with his boxer body language. Soori did a guest appearance as Tiger Tyson. And a few supporting characters played by Sayaji Shinde and many new artist.

Screenplay: The movie started well with some supernatural features. And it was brought up good up to first half then it started to get draggy. Surprisingly, Siva was given an Intro song like big stars and it was quite well choreographed. But when it comes to song transitions it was a bit not aligned. The songs simply comes when Hansika and Siva is together. And the boxing setting could have done with more momentum. It was an entertaining movie until the boxing ignited. Could have shown a lot more on boxing rather than Siva and Hansika's love. And Siva's boxing match was poorly choreographed, it was more like Tom and Jerry jokes between Siva and Soori. And Siva's transformation could have been done like Ethir Neechal. Lot more visuals on training could have been added. Final fight scene was ok but less logic, because a non boxer fighting a professional boxer and he was sustaining the hit like a boxer. Title fits good with the movie but could have shown more of Siva's agility. But good thing about the  movie it will definitely make you laugh with Siva and Satish instant comedies. And scenes involving Hansika's supportive nature was touching anyway.

Music: The songs by Anirudh are already chartbuster and it was well choreographed especially un vizhigalil song.

Plus Point: Story, Cast and Comedy.

Minus Point: Second half, Boxing Setup,Song transitions and Lengthy

Verdict: A very creative story done in average manner. Could have pumped in more adrenalin rush. Can be watched in Cinema

Vennira Iravugal by R.Perakas

Story:A feel good romance movie with a very well planed plot. It has good raise and drops which will be an added advantage for the movie. Something new for a Malaysian Tamil movie. Out of mainstream. Ample of romance, drama, comedy and message. Nicely written twists and climax. Kudos to the story.

Cast: Vikadakavi Magen played Ramesh@Senior Jagat, a happy go lucky guy with a hidden black background. He was good at instant comedy deliverance but had a lot of weak spot when it comes to speech in general. But good choice of cast to resemble an irritating senior of course. Sangeetha Krishnasamy played Megala the lead lady. I really find her good in acting among other actresses in Malaysia. The way she deliver her dialogues seems quite good and spontaneous. But her junior makeover were overdone. The big glasses quite mainstream. Maybe less make-up, normal glasses and some body language for the junior role would be just perfect. But seriously her expressions and search for truth deserve appreciation. Both of them were the game player. Others were just supporting character such as Psychomantra, Kanchana Devi, Aruna, Logan, David Anthony and many others.

Screenplay: The screenplay was something out of norm for Malaysian Tamil movie. Loved the parallel narration throughout the movie especially second half and the wrap up. well done. The director's victory is making dual narration in line and doesn't overlap to each other. The dialogues were good at most scenes but minor glitches in dialogues in uni scenes. But it doesn't matter, overall it was good. Loved the way director used blogging as a key tool of romance in this movie. One of the drawback in the movie is the performance of the other than center characters. They should be given rehearsal because most of the Malaysian movie has that problem. The side characters were giggling, smiling, over-act and react opposite to mode of the scene. Eventhough the cinematography was basic but the angles of shot were done very well. The best is the climax scene, which answers how, what and why. Hats off R.Perakas for you and your team effort.

Plus Point: Story, Screenplay, Twists and Climax.

Minus Point: Side casts

Verdict: A well done feel good Malaysian Tamil movie. Watch it in cinema.

Thegidi by P.Ramesh (Review)

***********Spoiler Alert*************************

Story:A crime solving thriller, a rare subject in Tamil Cinema. It has a very good plot and ample of twists to maintain the suspense elements. Using Insurance Scam is a good idea to rationalize the story. It has a good mixture of suspense, thriller, action and romance. But giving too much space for a common man to contribute in police investigation seems a bit illogical. But overall it was racy and had enough feel good elements.

Cast: Ashok Selvan played Vetri, a newbie detective who works for a detective agency. He is quite good in acting but the characterization in this movie could have been made more bold. The confidence level in solving crime was lacking. But his romance play was good. Not forgetting his speech deliverance was natural. Janani Iyer played Madhushree, the lady love of vetri. Not the best choice of heroine for this movie. I think this story needs more of a homely look girl which this Janani doesn't fit 100% with her overdone makeup. One thing good about her is that she was good in speaking Tamil so the lip sync matches. Some of the romantic scenes was ok with her in it. Jayaprakaash played a cop role. He was good as usual. It's just that the dubbing was not done by him, it was someone else's voice. would have been better with his original voice. Other supporting roles were done by many new faces.

Screenplay: Actually this is a film with good story but average screenplay. The drawback was crime solving  seems like easy in this movie. Many scenes were made as if the protagonist got the answer in a very simple process. Attempts like opening a car door or a house window, entering a police guarded house, fraudster using real names and newspaper publishing the pictures of deceased  same as the one the detectives has. Director could have paid attention to this small details. Certain scenes were escalating too quickly for an unknown reason and jumping from one scene to another. The director could have slow down the pace of such scenes and justify it accordingly. Another drawback was the dialogues and monologues, seriously needs a lot of fine tuning. It wasn't so impressive. even most comedy dialogues were not funny. If you want to make a crime solving thriller, "vettaiyaadu vilayaadu" must be the benchmark. The Cinematography was good, had good shade of colours. The BGM was awesome. The movie had a lot of racy scenes and adrenaline rush in second half. But the climax was predictable. The song sequence made the romance more colourful. Since it is the first movie for the director I think it is quite a good product for a newbie.

Music: Songs composed by Nivas K Prasanna. A very feel good music, soothing and mood booster.

Plus Point: Story, Cast, Cinematography and Music.

Minus Point: Screenplay.

Verdict: A not bad crime-thriller. Can be watched once in cinema.

Veeram by Shiva (Review)

Story:A village based story of 5 brothers. It's a masala movie with enough comedy, action, romance and drama. It has the common telegu movie influence with "expected unexpected" twists. There are contradiction between first half of the movie and second half. A very simple story yet a very usual story of family love based theme. Again to many telegu cliche in this movie.

Cast: Thala Ajith Kumar played Vinayagam, the big brother. He used a different accent in the first half of the movie. He really did great in terms of dialogue deliverance using that accent. Other than that it's usual Thala slow-mo and theme music. Maybe it's good to see thala back in dhothi but major mess up makeover in song sequences. Vidhart of myna fame, Bala of Kathal kisu kisu, Munish and Suhail Chandhok played the 4 brothers. They were the entertainment part. They handled major part of the comedy together with santhanam. Tamanah played Kopurendevi, as Vinayagam's pair. She over acted in this movie as usual. But she was the turning point for the movie. Abhinaya (Eesan) and Suza Kumar played the brothers pair. Pradeep Rawat was the villain in first half while Atul Kulkarni took over the second half. Just some village aruva villains with vengeance. The supporting characters done by Ramesh Khana, Devadharshini, Vidyulekha Raman, Nassar, Appukutty, Thambhi Ramaiyah and many others.

Screenplay: I think there were too many slow motions, I don't know it's just to show the "mass" effect of Ajith or what. but having it too frequent was a drawback. The comedy sequences was good. It was all four 4 brothers with santhanam and their :Looty". Thambhi Ramaiyah joined in second half of the "looty". The song sequences were a major drawback for the movie. It was not attractive at all. Some good moral value instilled in this movie. Cinematography was not that good. The shades were like film roll. The fight scenes are crap of course. Even the movie was kind of draggy.

Music: Songs composed by Devi Sri Prasad. The songs were crap but the the Veeram theme did gave Ajith's entrance goosebumps.

Plus Point: Good cast, good comedy, good family value

Minus Point: bad stunts, bad song sequence, usual telegu movie story, bad cinematography, draggy.

Verdict: You can watch it once in cinema for the comedy.

Jilla by R.T.Neason (Review)

Story:A typical Vijay commercial entertainer. Nothing complex about the story. In line with Vettaikaran and Velayutham. There'll be first half Vijay and Second half Vijay like most of his movies. Ample of Exaggerated Action, Nice Family Sentiments, Good Comedy and not so Good Romance. Can't say much about the story since there's nothing unique to tell.

Cast: ilayathalapathy Vijay as Shakthi, the main cast. Seriously I think he really need to change his style of acting. I really hope to see Thuppakki magic soon. The same "I'm too good" type of dialogue deliverance like Pokkiri is too common for him. Mohanlal played Shiva, another main cast with Anti-Hero nature. We know he is a good actor as he's got 3 National Award in hand. But giving him too many punch dialogue totally not so Lal-Ettan style. Ok he had the hard man look but still I think the movie was not 2 man army movie, it was more concentrating on Vijay. Kajal Agrawal played Shanthi, Shakti's lady love. Just a passing cloud heroine who comes once in a while and mostly for songs. Soori played Gopal and he was at the humour part. averagely good, will make you laugh with his dialogues. Sampath is the main surprise antagonist. He was good and can say a good replacement for Prakaash Raj. He really did that evil guy with good humour character very well. A lot of misleading villains as well like RK, Ravi Mariya and Pradeep Rawat. Supporting character was played by Mahat Raghavendra, Niveda Thomas, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Thambi Ramaiyah and many others

Screenplay: Too many cliche in screenplay. Sister sentiments, Death of an important person, a havoc that change the hero's life and many more. The Cinematography was poor. There were variation in the tonal quality between the scenes. The comedy scenes were good especially Vijay does it himself. Song scenes were not bad. Kandangi could have been done better. But the BGM boosted some of the scenes.

Music: Songs composed by D.Imman. It was great plus point for the movie. especially the BGM.

Plus Point: Heavy Cast, Music

Minus Point: Story, Screenplay

Verdict: If you like Velayutham and Vettaikaran, you'll like this movie. If you don't then please don't watch this movie in cinema.
